Hey, didn't see you there...
Thank you very much for stopping by my blog. This place is pretty much where I dump everything, art wise, including the kitchen sink. If I feel like sharing something, finished or not, it'll find a place here. Now if you look to your lower right you'll find a Digsby widget, right under the "About Me" section there. If it says that I'm online please feel free to type hi! I'd love to hear from ya. Well anyhow, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a good one.

Helix Christmas Pencils
Here is the pencil for my Helix Christmas greeting. I'm really not liking the scan line along the center. I really have to get a better way of scanning things. The problem is that this piece is 17 by 22 inches and I only have a regular scanner. The Photoshop "Photomerge" function tried its' best but these things can only do so much. Hopefully I can scan it properly and color it by Christmas. Happy Holidays everyone.

Project Hippoh Update
Hi all! A mix of having a steady 9 to 5 and my computer being in a whole other city has made it very difficult for me to update this blog. For now though, I just thought I'd post this clip of my project hippoh animation so far. It's been going at a snail's pace but better slow than nothing I guess.

3D Animation Test
I just thought I'd share an animation test that I'm currently working on. There's still a lot more to be done but I think this gets the general message across.
Flash Dog
Hi all. Here's a quick animation that I decided to do in Flash. I expect to do a whole lot more flash animation in the future. Also, if any one knows how the best way to get flash animation into youtube without losing much quality, could you tell me how? Just leave a comment down there. I'd appreciate it.

Project Hippoh
For fun, my brother likes to make music. He and his friends decided to make a group and call it Project Hippoh. He describes the logo to me as a hip hop squirrel (Don't ask me why). To help the both of us, I've decided to make a little animation of a squirrel jumping into scene and doing a little graffiti art. Here's some of what I have so far...

The return of Disney 2D animation
Just wanted to geek out about the art of animation for a bit. In a world flooded with 3D, It's a breath of fresh air to see a studio do a film in 2D, even if it's for a little while.

Coat of Arms
Here's a design I was working on for the coat of arms of the Philippines. This is definitely a first pass at it. Thought it was a good idea at the time but now that I look at it, it seems too plain and the focus is unintentionally shifted to the right because of the eagle's wings. That's what happens when I try to take shortcuts I guess. What do you guys think? Leave a comment or IM me via that Digsby messenger on the right of the screen.

A piece for fun
This character's sort of been in the back of my mind for a while. I did this to get his design down on paper that aren't just scribbles and rough sketches. The bits of armor on his arms and legs are there to keep his hands and feet from blowing up when he fires of whatever power he has. I should come up with a name for this dude.

A girl and her carabao
Here's a piece I worked on a while back. I was planning on having some kind of Philippine tribal tattoo run down that arm and the girl would have the same. In the end, however, I decided that I still didn't know enough about the Kalinga to do their designs any justice or respect. This is okay for now.

11 Second Club March Competition Rough Animation
Hi All,
Here is the first rough animation of the 11 second Club March competition. Though the competition is over, I decided to keep going with the project. The ending seems to stop too soon but I'm hoping to work in some overshoots to finish it off. Sorry it's so flickery towards the end. I hope no one gets a seizure or anything.
11 Second Club March Competition Keys and BDs
Hi All,
Here is an animation I did for the 11 Second Club March Competition. Unfortunately, I only managed to finish up the keys and the breakdowns by the deadline. Oh well, better than nothing I guess.
Animation Archive
Hi All,
Here are a few animations that I've done while I was in school. Just thought I'd show them to you all while I'm working on some new ones. See you guys later.

It has finally BEGUN!!!
Hi all,
As my profile on the right side of your screen mentions, My name is Philip Cruz and I am an animator. I started this blog with the hope that it would help me stay diligent with the personal projects that I have going on here. The plan is to post all of my work in their different stages of completion and maybe to even get tips, tricks, and general advice from you guys. Nothing can get posted if nothing's done so I guess better get cracking.... Wish me luck.
Best,
Philip
